A visit to Leuven

A KU Leuven a Németalföld legősibb egyeteme, 2025-ben ünnepli alapításának hatszázadik évfordulóját. Ez a legrégibb, máig működő katolikus egyetem a világon —olyan tudósok tanítottak itt, mint a rotterdami Erasmus és a híres térképész, Gerardus Mercator. Ez a hely is egyike azoknak, amelyeket ismerni kell, ha az egyetemek jövőjéről gondolkodunk.

Ahogy az elmúlt évszázadokban mindig, Leuven falai között ma is tanulnak magyar tehetségek, s engem az a megtiszteltetés ért, hogy látogatásom —s persze az új könyv—apropóján meghívtak magukhoz beszélgetni.

KU Leuven is the oldest university in the Netherlands, celebrating the six hundredth anniversary of its founding in 2025. It is the oldest Catholic university in the world still in operation — scholars such as Erasmus of Rotterdam and the famous cartographer Gerardus Mercator taught here. This place is also one of those that you should know if you are thinking about the future of universities.

As always in past centuries, fellow Hungarians are still studying within the walls of Leuven, and I was honored to be invited to talk to them on the occasion of my visit —and of course the new book.
